Introduction

If you love art with a big A and you search for inspiration, then this is the place. Do not be surprised finding art in the webpage of a packaging producer. This is not an accident, since we have come to a conclusion that being one of the major companies in the region, we must also promote its most valuable cultural achievements.

Our choice has been the timeless work of a versatile, brilliant and inventive, although underestimated and uncomprehended artist, namely Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz (1885 – 1939).

Why Witkacy? It is hard to find a direct parallel between his work and our products, although there is indeed one. Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz – playwright, prose writer, philosopher, art theoretician and critic, painter, graphic artist and artist photographer was the author of the aesthetic theory of Pure Form and the founder of the Portrait Company, where – as a part of the legendary creative experiments – he concentrated as nobody before him on the search of the purest and the most vivid expressions of what is in our hearts. Colour and form have a special role here, and our company, specializing in production of industrial packaging for different branches, knows that adequate colours and intriguing artwork increase the possibility of our products being spotted by clients. It is the search for a pure and expressive form as well as the artistic boldness of Witkacy what makes him close for us in our business.

The works by Witkacy gathered in the Museum of the Region of Pomorze Środkowe in Słupsk form the biggest collection of this kind in the world. Its history goes back to 1965, and nowadays it comprises 256 works, among which dominate portraits in pastels on paper. The collection also includes several drawings, three compositions in pastels, two charcoal portraits, a couple of oil paintings and one watercolour. They are all unique, and thanks to the generosity and expertise of the staff of the Museum of the Region of Pomorze Środkowe in Słupsk we are going to promote them in Poland and abroad, hopefully with an active support of our commercial partners, enthusiasts for great and unconventional art.
